Aly Raisman’s parents experienced every human emotion during her Olympics gymnastics routine

The only thing better than watching Aly Raisman turn in a scintillating gymnastics performance was watching her parents. The stakes couldn’t have been higher, and it was really sweet to see them hang on every single move their daughter performed as if it were oxygen for them.

They knew what Sunday in Rio meant to their daughter. In what will likely be her final Olympics, Raisman was desperate to get back to the women’s all-around final after circumstance and bylaws left her off the podium in London, despite tying for third place. The Rio Olympics are Raisman’s chance for redemption, and her parents lived it as much as she did.

Within moments, Lynn Faber and Rick Raisman weren’t just the parents of an amazing Olympic gymnast. They were the Internet’s parents.

Of course, the Olympics’ favorite impromptu commentator Leslie Jones had something to say about it too.

Raisman ended up finishing second behind Simone Biles to qualify for the final. The only unfortunate byproduct of Raisman’s finish was that her teammate Gabby Douglas was eliminated despite finishing third due to a two-per-country rule in competitive gymnastics.
