Things are not going well for Team USA to start the World Cup of Hockey. An early 1-0 Team Europe lead has doubled into a two-goal deficit after Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl impressed once again on a stylistic breakaway.

For all I’ve dumped on Team Europe these past few weeks, the United States looks worse. They’ve been unable to counter any speed Team Europe has thrown at them, and they’re certainly not the fastest team in the tournament.
Even worse for the Americans, this game is basically a must win since they’ll be playing Canada — the tournament favorites — next game with just three games to grab points to advance. It’s not looking good, to say the least.
