Things don’t sound very good in Gainesville in terms of Florida’s quarterback situation. In the fourth quarter against North Texas, Gator starting quarterback Luke Del Rio took a hard low-body hit. He left the game with an apparent knee injury.

Florida would end up beating North Texas 32-0, but this injury is an obvious huge one. From the early sound of things, it appears Del Rio will be out for the game at No. 15 Tennessee next week, one that’s critical for Florida’s SEC East chances.

On the day, Del Rio went 14-for-25 for 186 yards. Del Rio’s back-up is Purdue transfer Austin Appleby, who Del Rio beat out for the starting job during fall camp. In Del Rio’s absence, Appleby completed two passes for just 30 yards late in the game to finish things out.
