Jaguars offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum had to be stabilized on a board and taken off the field in a cart after being hit in the head by an inadvertent knee during Sunday’s game against the Chargers. He was on the ground for a significant period of time while being tended to by doctors and trainers.

Beachum was diagnosed with a concussion and was transported to a hospital, where he will stay overnight:
Earlier in the day, Saints cornerback P.J. Williams suffered a similar scary situation. As with Williams, Beachum did not appear to move after the play.
Beachum’s injury occurred in the second half of Sunday’s game. Beachum, 27, became the Jaguars’ starting left tackle after signing with the team from the Steelers during the offseason. He entered the league as a seventh round pick out of SMU in 2012.
According to SB Nation blog Big Cat Country, Beachum was replaced by backup Patrick Omameh during the game.
