Bears vs. Cowboys 2016 odds: Dallas seeks to end home skid as TD favorites against Chicago

The Dallas Cowboys will try to snap an eight-game home losing streak on Sunday when they take on the Chicago Bears in the primetime matchup.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are 0-8 straight up and 1-5-2 against the spread in their last eight games at home. The Cowboys hope to end this streak with a win in primetime on Sunday night against the Chicago Bears.

Dallas is a 7-point favorite at AT&T Stadium at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Over the team’s last 14 home games, the Cowboys are just 3-11 SU and 2-10-2 ATS.

Dak Prescott picked up the first win of his NFL career under center last week, completing 73.3 percent of his passes for 292 yards and rushing for a touchdown in Dallas’s 27-23 road win over the Washington Redskins.

Ezekiel Elliot has rushed for just 67 yards per game through Dallas’ first two games this season but could do more in a favorable matchup this week against a Bears team that has allowed 114.5 rushing yards per game thus far. The Cowboys are 1-5 SU and 1-3-2 ATS over their last six games.

In the last five games between the Cowboys and the Bears, the road team is 4-1 SU and ATS per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Dallas -7 / 44.5 Points

Trend: The total has gone OVER in the Bears’ last five games against the Cowboys.

Trend: The Cowboys are 2-10-2 ATS in their last 14 games at home.

There hasn’t been much for Bears fans to like about Chicago’s 0-2 SU and ATS start, and things could get worse before they get better. Jeremy Langford has failed to produce at running back for the Bears with Matt Forte no longer in the backfield, and starting quarterback Jay Cutler is expected to be out two to three weeks with a sprained thumb.

Brian Hoyer will start in Cutler’s place and try to break the Bears out of a 1-6 SU and ATS slump with an upset win this Sunday night.

Sunday’s total is set at 44.5 points. The OVER is 5-0 in the last five games between Dallas and Chicago.

Chicago’s offense has scored just 14 points per game through the first two games of the season, and one of those four touchdowns came on a punt return last Sunday. The Bears defense has allowed 26.4 points per game over the team’s last seven games and will likely need a much stronger game on Sunday night against the Cowboys to keep this game close.
