A California HS football team presented a cheerleader battling leukemia with surprise orange roses
Before they played their game on Sept. 3, Foothill High School’s football team honored cheerleader Ashley Adamietz, who was diagnosed with leukemia in August. As each player entered the field, they left an orange rose (orange is the color for leukemia awareness) by Adamietz’s feet — the whole gesture was a total surprise for her.
Ryan Caetano, who orchestrated the surprise, told KRCR-TV why it was important for his team to rally behind her:
”She’s part of the cougar family, so why not let her know that we’re all here for her. We are. So I wanted to let that be known to everybody, and especially to her, for what she’s going through.”
And his coach Joey Brown shared a similar sentiment saying, “We took care of family business, before we took care of business on the field.”
As for Adamietz, you can tell from the video that she deeply appreciated what the team did for her. What a beautiful tribute.
