The Divisional round matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers is now scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET, more than seven hours after the originally schedule kickoff, due to an incoming ice storm in the area.
Steelers vs. Chiefs postponed due to Kansas City ice storm
The game at Arrowhead Stadium will now kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET.
“Moving the game from the original 1:05 p.m. ET start time will provide local authorities more time to clear roads in the area as the weather is expected to improve throughout Sunday,” the NFL announced in a statement Friday. “The decision to make this time change was made in consultation with state and local officials as well as the Chiefs and the Steelers.”
An ice storm warning was issued Friday for Northwestern Missouri by the National Weather Service effective from 6 p.m. local time Friday evening until midnight Sunday evening.
The game is the first home postseason game for the Chiefs since a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in January 2011. Prior to that the last playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium was in January 2004.
The Chiefs will hold a press conference to provide more details about the reschedule.
