The Seattle Seahawks are missing safety Earl Thomas after his broke his leg against the Carolina Panthers just over a month ago, and their defense just hasn’t looked the same against the Atlanta Falcons.
Devonta Freeman’s 53-yard juke-and-run shows just how much the Seahawks miss Earl Thomas
Thomas is key to Seattle’s defense.
A great example of this was when Devonta Freeman broke off a 53-yard run on the Seahawks, where Thomas’ replacement — Steven Terrell — missed an open field tackle pretty brutally.
It isn’t just today, either. The Seahawks’ defense hasn’t been the same ever since he was injured, with opponents’ points, quarterback rating, and interceptions thrown all improved in favor of the offense.
The Seahawks’ defense undoubtedly has plenty of other talented players on their unit, but if Thomas’ importance was ever in question, that’s been answered with this afternoon’s game.
