Super Bowl halftime show 2017: Lady Gaga will take the stage

The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots are the main attraction for Super Bowl LI, but the halftime show always gets plenty of attention. This year’s show, live from NRG Stadium in Houston, will feature Lady Gaga. The six-time Grammy winner is performing just one year after singing the national anthem prior to Super Bowl 50.

Gaga released her fifth studio album last fall titled Joanne, which earned her a fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

Gaga has showcased her talents outside of the recording studio, as well. She played The Countess last fall on American Horror Story: Hotel, and she won a Golden Globe for her performance. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for the song “‘Til It Happens to You,” which was written and recorded for the documentary The Hunting Ground.

Lady Gaga joins quite the impressive group of former Super Bowl halftime performers. Super Bowl 50’s halftime performance with Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars drew in more than 115.5 million viewers in the United States alone.

Other legendary names that have performed for the halftime show include the likes of U2, Paul McCartney, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, and Katy Perry.

Two years ago, Perry’s halftime show was quite entertaining — it featured the singer riding a moving lion for her song “Roar,” and of course the dancing sharks that made an appearance.

Prince’s halftime show from Miami was also one for the ages, which he gave at halftime of Super Bowl XLI in 2007.

The schedule for Gaga’s halftime performance is below.
