LeBron James won’t have his Banana Boat Crew in the NBA All-Star Game

For the first time ever, LeBron will be the sole member of the Banana Boat Crew in the All-Star main event.

LeBron James is very good friends with three other NBA superstars: Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul. LeBron first made the NBA All-Star Game in 2005, his second season in the league. He was joined by Wade, also a second-year player. Wade has been named to every All-Star team since, though he missed the 2015 edition due to injury.

Melo has been an All-Star regular as well. He made the team in 2007 and 2008, took a year on the outs, and has played in every All-Star Game since 2010. CP3 entered the league two years after the other three and has been named to the All-Star team in every season since 2008. The only season he missed was the 2010 game due to injury.

This year, LeBron was voted in as a starter. The other three Banana Boaters were not. Both Wade and Melo were snubbed by Eastern Conference coaches for reserve spots and CP3 was snubbed in the Western Conference. Many thought Paul would make it despite his current injury but he was not awarded a spot.

Melo, Wade, and CP3 will no doubt attend All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. But when the main event begins Monday night, LeBron will be all alone with a collection of the finest players of the next generation, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and Jimmy Butler. LeBron is forever, but his crew is not.
