Angelica and Eliza are singing at the Super Bowl! Oh, and Peggy.
Super Bowl 2017: Hamilton cast members sing ‘America the Beautiful’

The NFL announced on Friday that the Schuyler Sisters from Broadway’s hit show Hamilton will be preforming “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LI. The three singers, Phillipa Soo, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Jasmine Cephas Jones, were all part of the original Broadway cast, but are no longer with the show.
This is huge news for fans of Hamilton like myself, who spent the greater portion of my week writing out NFL-themed Hamilton quotes for SB Nation’s The Falcoholic.
Here is an excerpt from said piece:
If you aren’t familiar with Hamilton, its a musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s Founding Fathers and premiere fuckboys. Alexander Hamilton married Eliza Schuyler in 1780, despite falling in love with her sister Angelica. Angelica and Alexander continued a flirtatious love-letter writing affair after his marriage to her sister, which, should it ever occur to me and my sister would certainly end in cold-blooded murder.
The sisters, however, stayed tight as hell and ganged up on Hamilton when he cheated on Eliza for realz with a sultry mistress named Maria Reynolds. All of this, by the way, is according to the musical, which I read is pretty historically accurate.
Oh yeah, and they had a third sister named Peggy. Everyone always forgets about Peggy.
The trio’s song at Super Bowl LI joins a fantastic list of entertainers, including Luke Bryan who is singing the National Anthem and Lady Gaga who will be performing the halftime show.
