Brock Osweiler was named the starter for the Houston Texans going into Saturday’s game with Tom Savage in concussion protocol, and Osweiler put up a performance that was enough to win his job back.
Texans sticking with Brock Osweiler at quarterback after win vs. Raiders
He showed enough on Saturday to earn his job back.

After a game in which Osweiler completed 14-of-25 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown, Bill O’Brien told reporters that he would be sticking with Osweiler as the starter moving forward. He was pretty plain with it, too.
”I thought he had a good game,” O’Brien said.
Osweiler had lost his job after a poor performance in the first half of the Texans’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Osweiler was 6 of 11 with 48 yards and two interceptions in that game, and the Texans were facing a 13-5 deficit in which their points came off of a safety and a field goal. Savage entered when Osweiler was benched, and helped lead a comeback in a 21-20 win.
After being named the starter, Savage started in Week 16 and 17, but suffered a concussion in Week 17 against the Titans, paving the way for Osweiler’s return.
Now, the Texans will face off against either the New England Patriots or the Kansas City Chiefs, depending on the outcome of Sunday’s Dolphins vs. Steelers game. A Dolphins win means the Texans will play the Chiefs, and a Steelers win means they’ll play the Patriots.
Regardless of the opponent, there’s no question Osweiler’s glad to have his job back.
