Why does the Lions center snap the ball like that?

Instead of holding the ball flat on the ground prior to the snap, Glasgow holds it perpendicular, with the point on the field.
Glasgow is filling in for starting center Travis Swanson, who has been sidelined with a with a concussion for several weeks.
NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz said you see this type of snap more frequently in the college ranks.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is taking every snap from Glasgow from out of the shotgun. Stafford is dealing with a finger injury that makes it impossible for him to take snaps from under center.
The Lions are hoping to upset the Seahawks in Seattle to advance to the Divisional Round.
