Ravens fans boo their team for kneeling prior to national anthem

The team was praying before Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh.

The Baltimore Ravens took a knee prior to the national anthem on Sunday at home against the Steelers.

As the players knelt, they were met with boos by their home fans as the PA announcer said they were kneeling in prayer.

Last week, Terrell Suggs, Mike Wallace, and many other Ravens kneeled during the national anthem prior to their game against the Jaguars in London.

“Personally, I think the comments made about my brothers who decided to protest and kneel is kind of what made us no longer be silent. We stand with our brothers,” Suggs said after their London game via ESPN. “They have the right to protest. We knelt with them today. Non-violent protest is as American as it gets. We knelt with them today and let them know we are a unified front. There is no dividing us. I guess we’re all sons of b------.”

Their demonstration, as well as many others around the NFL, came after President Donald Trump said that NFL owners should fire players who “disrespect the flag” by kneeling for the anthem. Trump also referred to players kneeling as “sons of bitches.”
