The Arizona Cardinals came a fraction of an inch from beating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime Sunday with an acrobatic catch by John Brown. Luckily for the Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald was the hero a few plays later in an 18-15 win.

John Brown was almost the hero for the Cardinals, but how could it be anyone other than Larry Fitzgerald?

San Francisco got the ball first in overtime and wasted as much time as possible in the 10-minute period before kicking a field goal with just over two minutes left. The Cardinals got right to work with some short passing and quick first downs, but Carson Palmer finally went deep with just over a minute to go.
On a pass to John Brown down the right sideline, 49ers cornerback Rashard Robinson tipped the ball away, but Brown still managed to haul it in. After his left foot came down, Brown stabbed his right toe into the turf.
While it appeared to be a touchdown grab for Brown, officials initially ruled the play incomplete and couldn’t find indisputable evidence to overturn the call.
Fitzgerald saved the day instead a few plays later.
His 19-yard catch was the only touchdown of the game for either team and the 106th of his NFL career. It also kept the Cardinals’ season afloat and pushed the team to 2-2 when it was dangerously close to a 1-3 or 1-2-1 start.
