Being a referee is hard. However, calling a facemask something else is not really the hard part of the job.
Referee forgets what to call a facemask penalty by saying it’s ‘grabbing the helmet opening’
To be fair, he isn’t wrong.
After a Colts facemask penalty, referee Jeff Triplette called it as “grabbing the helmet opening.” It was pretty funny.
If we’re calling things by their real names, here’s some other things:
- Camel: hot moose
- Raccoon: trash panda
- Ice: water croutons
“Grabbing the helmet opening,” come on, Jeff.
