World Series 2017: Astros, Dodgers release rosters

Corey Seager is on the Dodgers’ roster, and the Astros are sticking with their ALCS roster.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros have released their 25-man rosters for the 2017 World Series, and the biggest news is that Corey Seager is on the roster for the Dodgers. After back problems kept him off the NLDS and NLCS rosters, let this be your reminder that his team laid waste to the National League without one of the best players in baseball.

The Dodgers also added Brandon McCarthy to their roster, giving them another long-relief option out of the bullpen. McCarthy hasn’t pitched since Oct. 1, and he’s had limited experience in relief over the last decade, but, well, the Dodgers are plotting something. It’s best to trust in the efficiency of their nefarious schemes.

The struggling Curtis Granderson, twice on the losing end of a World Series, was one of the roster casualties for the Dodgers, along with Kyle Farmer. The Dodgers will have Joc Pederson off the bench for their lefty power needs.

On the other side, the Astros are sticking with the same 25 players they took to the ALCS. They’ll carry three catchers and have rookie Derek Fisher as a pinch-hitting option off the bench. Left-handed reliever Tony Sipp will not be on the roster, which means that Francisco Liriano is the sole option against left-handed batters in the late innings.
