The 2017 thoroughbred horse racing season culminates this weekend at Del Mar Racetrack a little ways north of San Diego, California. There are 13 Grade 1 races worth more than $28 million altogether, but the one the most eyes will be on comes Saturday when the Breeders’ Cup Classic is run.

The 1-1/4-mile race carries a $6 million purse and is open to the best horses ages 3 and up. Eleven entrants will burst from the gates a little after 8:35 p.m. ET. The broadcast is set for NBC between 8-9 p.m. (live stream).

None of the winners of the 2017 Triple Crown races — Always Dreaming in the Kentucky Derby, Cloud Computing in the Preakness, or Tapwrit in the Belmont Stakes — will be present. However, Arrogate, who won the Classic last year, will be back to defend his title, breaking from the rail. He’s the second choice at 2-1 morning line odds. Gun Runner (9-5) is the slight favorite, per figures posted by OddsShark.

West Coast (eighth gate, 6-1), and Collected (11th gate, 6-1) round out the leading contenders.
