The Cleveland Browns’ 10-0 lead over the Detroit Lions disappeared quickly, but the team had a chance to get some points before halftime. Instead, the team completely mismanaged the situation and went to the locker room down 17-10.
Browns run QB sneak with 15 seconds and no timeouts. It was as dumb as it sounds.
The Browns completely botched a chance to get points before halftime.

The lesson: obviously don’t try a quarterback sneak with 15 seconds left if you don’t have a timeout.
DeShone Kizer’s attempt to bulldoze ahead 2 yards into the end zone went absolutely nowhere against the Detroit defense. With a pile of bodies to unstack, the Browns weren’t able to get another snap off to spike and set up a field goal.
It’s been a frustrating, winless season for the Browns, but this situation might not be on coach Hue Jackson. It appeared as though Kizer checked into the play and Jackson wasn’t happy about it.
To rub some salt in the wound, the ensuing frustration drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty on Browns running back Duke Johnson to be enforced on the kickoff at the beginning of the second half.
The penalty didn’t stop the Browns from opening the second half with a touchdown drive to tie the game, but if Cleveland falls to 0-9, the disastrous end of the second quarter will loom large.
