Marquise Goodwin showed incredible strength on Sunday.
After evading one of the best corners in the game in Janoris Jenkins, Goodwin blew a kiss to the sky before scoring a touchdown in the 49ers’ first win of the season.
Goodwin was overcome with emotion and dropped to his knees in the end zone:
As Niners Nation’s Jennifer Lee Chan reported, Goodwin wasn’t made available for interviews with the media after the game because of a personal matter.
He then announced on Instagram that he and his wife lost their son due to complications and had to prematurely deliver him at 4 a.m. Sunday.
In his post, Goodwin praised his wife for her incredible strength during such a difficult time.
“Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan,” he wrote. “The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”
