LeBron James thinks that Deshaun Watson should be a Brown

LeBron James caused a stir this past weekend when criticizing Phil Jackson over his drafting decisions. In the process, he also had some thoughts on the Cleveland Browns and their quarterback situation.

“I think Deshaun Watson should be a Brown,” James said via Cleveland.com, elaborating on his criticism of Jackson. “Doesn’t mean that Myles Garrett isn’t going to be a great football player. But Deshaun Watson should’ve been our quarterback. Doesn’t mean you’re (ripping) on the next guy. It’s just that you stating what you see.”

Monday, it led to rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer being asked about James’ comments:

To be fair to Kizer, he’s not wrong. Sure, you would prefer the best athlete on the planet not say that another player should be the quarterback instead of you. But the Browns very well could have drafted Watson at No. 1 or No. 12 overall in April’s draft. After making the no-brainer pick in Myles Garrett, they decided to trade that No. 12 pick to Houston, which ultimately drafted Watson, who balled out this season until he tore his ACL in practice.

To LeBron’s point: Just about every quarterback (or player, for that matter) the Browns touch turns to crap. Would Deshaun Watson be the quarterback who threw for 1,699 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in eight games? Probably not. The Browns don’t have a ton of weapons around Kizer, who has been yanked around all season by head coach Hue Jackson.

And I mean, they’re the Browns. They can’t have nice things, and when they do have them, things usually go wrong.

Could LeBron be an NFL GM? Well, if he tried to make a trade for AJ McCarron, at least he’d probably get it in on time.
