The Pittsburgh Steelers cruised past the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night to improve to 8-2 with a 40-17 win. The loss put the Titans at 6-4 on the season.
4 winners and 3 losers from the Steelers’ blowout win over the Titans
The Titans didn’t have a lot to celebrate after a 40-17 loss

The Steelers started off fast with Ben Roethlisberger connecting with Antonio Brown. They would do that nine more times, with Brown finishing with 10 receptions for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
However, the Titans came out quick too. The Steelers would end up going up 16-7 at halftime before stepping on the gas in the second half for the 23-point win.
Roethlisberger finished the game with four touchdown passes, while Marcus Mariota finished with four interceptions in his worst outing of the season.
Here are the winners and losers from Thursday night’s game.
Loser: getting your field goal blocked (or the Titans offensive line on this field goal try?)
As you might be able to tell by the final score, things didn’t go well for the Titans on Thursday night.
That included this blocked field goal:
And wouldn’t you know it, a Watt got a hand on it — T.J.
Winner: the possible catch of the year
Antonio Brown has been one of the best receivers in the NFL the past few years, and he reminded us why.
In the fourth quarter, Brown used one hand to pin the ball against his helmet, before securing it with two hands as he went to the ground:
Brown had a big game beyond the catch with his total of 10 receptions for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Loser: referees getting it wrong
Antonio Brown caught a Ben Roethlisberger pass on a second-and-10 from the Pittsburgh 41. He advanced the ball 17 yards before fumbling; Martavis Bryant then recovered the football 10 yards forward.
In the final two minutes of a half, the ball can’t be advanced after recovering your team’s own fumble. The Steelers got a field goal off the play, but as the final score would indicate, it didn’t really matter.
Loser: celebrating but the touchdown not counting
Le’Veon Bell scored a touchdown and lived up to the Steelers’ reputation as the team with the best celebrations in the NFL by playing keep away from Bell.
The touchdown would be overturned, but that celebration, you can’t overturn. The evidence is there.
Jesse James scored a touchdown on the next play and didn’t really celebrate. So thank you, Le’Veon.
Winner: surfing in Pittsburgh
Rishard Matthews finessed the Steelers defense for the only really good play the Titans had all night.
He celebrated by surfing, something he’s gotten used to doing this season:
Beyonce still has the GOAT surfboard reference. Sorry, Rishard.
Winner: being your own statue
One day in Pittsburgh, Brown may very well have his own statue.
For now, his touchdown celebration of himself being one will suffice:
Give it time, AB. If you keep having games like you had on Thursday night, it’ll come.
Winner: DILLY DILLY
Ben Roethlisberger called the only audible that mattered Thursday night.
He yelled, “DILLY DILLY!” — like they do in the old-timey Bud Light commercial:
In case you haven’t seen what’s been plastered on TVs since football season started:
Good job, Big Ben. It was entertainment after the game got out of pocket.
