Thanksgiving Day 2017 football schedule: NFL, college game times and TV schedule

It’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States, which means a lot of food and a lot of football. You can treat yourself to turkey, three NFL games, and one big college football game to get you through the day, though there is little time between said games for turkey naps.

First up, the Minnesota Vikings will face the Detroit Lions in an NFC North showdown on FOX at 12:30 p.m. ET. Then, the Los Angeles Chargers will travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys on CBS at 4:30 p.m. Then it’s college football as the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs host the Ole Miss Rebels at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Finally, the prime time NFL game between Washington and the New York Giants will take place at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. All of those games will be available via streaming online, and you can find links to each of those services below.

There are some pretty good teams in action, though the best game on the day is definitely the first one. It’s a close race in the NFC North and the Vikings actually look like a good team. The Lions are also on a winning streak, so things should be interesting.

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions
12:30 p.m., FOX (Fox Sports GO, FuboTV)

The Vikings are 8-2 and on a six-game winning streak, but their last loss was to the Lions at home. Now they’re on the road, while the Lions have won their last three. Detroit will still be a game back if it manages to beat the Vikings, but it’ll hold the tiebreak over its rivals with a win on Thursday. Who would have thought Case Keenum would be the one to provide a spark for the Vikings?

Los Angeles Chargers at Dallas Cowboys
4:30 p.m., CBS (CBS All-Access, FuboTV)

Things are going south for Jerry Jones’ Cowboys, and quickly. They have lost their last two games and haven’t been competitive in said games. They’re hurting without Ezekiel Elliott, but their problems run a lot deeper than that. The Chargers have been bad for most of the season, but the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent stumblings have them in the running for the AFC West, so Thursday’s game has serious implications for both sides.

Ole Miss at No. 14 Mississippi State
7:30 p.m., ESPN (WatchESPN)

Bowl-banned Ole Miss has very little to play for at this point, outside of pride. A 6-6 finish to the season would be great as the Rebels continue to rebuild, but other than regional hatred, this game is about the Bulldogs putting themselves in position for a better bowl game. They earned a bowl game last year by beating Ole Miss at the last minute, but already have one this time around.

New York Giants at Washington
8:30 p.m., NBC (NBC Sports Live, FuboTV)

Washington is still technically in the running in the NFC East, but this is the worst game on the day, for sure. The Giants gave the San Francisco 49ers their first win of the season, but managed to score an upset over the Chiefs in their last outing. Still, they have just two wins on the season. At the very least, tune in near the end to see who gets the Turkey Leg Award!
