Kovalev vs. Shabranskyy fight card: Full list of undercard fights

Kovalev vs. Shabranskyy headlines a three-fight televised HBO card that is well worth your time.

Sergey Kovalev (30-2-1) will be in action against Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (19-1-0) on Saturday as he tries to get back in the win column after losing his undefeated record in a pair of fights against Andre Ward.

The card will begin at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and will also feature two televised undercard bouts. The first televised bout will see Sullivan Barrera (20-1-0) taking on Felix Valera (15-1-0) in a light heavyweight matchup while Jason Sosa (20-2-4) will face Yuriorkis Gamboa (27-2-0) in super featherweight action.

Kovalev lost the first fight against Ward by unanimous decision, and had a solid argument for having won it himself. So they rematched, but Kovalev was finished in the eighth round by Ward, who then went on to retire. That likely means Kovalev, 34, is the best light heavyweight in the world now, despite riding a two-fight losing skid.

Shabranskyy has no huge wins on his record and is definitely the underdog, though if Kovalev is lacking confidence after his first career losses, he could be going into a dangerous matchup.

Barrera owns a win over Shabranskyy but has significant holes in his game. He faces the tough Valera, who possesses some of the best one-punch knockout power in the division. Barrera should win the match, but if he gets careless, things could get out of hand for him.

The televised card will open with the bout between Gamboa and Sosa. Gamboa is replacing Robinson Castellanos, who pulled out of the original fight with an injury, and is definitely the underdog to Sosa.
