Here’s how you can follow along with Kovalev vs. Shabranskyy on Saturday.
The card will begin at 10 p.m. ET and will also feature two big fights on the undercard. The first televised bout will see Sullivan Barrera (20-1-0) taking on Felix Valera (15-1-0) in light heavyweight action while Jason Sosa (20-2-4) will face Yuriorkis Gamboa (27-2-0) in a super featherweight fight before the main event.
Kovalev, 34, has blamed just about everybody connected to himself for his first two career losses in his past two bouts, both to the now-retired Andre Ward. Kovalev arguably won the first match, a unanimous decision for Ward, but was stopped in the eighth round in the rematch.
He goes into Saturday’s bout as the favorite, but fans are wary after all of the excuses. He’s clearly fighting somebody that he should beat, but if his confidence is shaken or if he doesn’t take Shabranskyy seriously, he could find himself riding a three-match losing skid. That would pretty much be the end of his career as a top-flight talent.
Shabranskyy is coming off a TKO loss to Barrera, who will be taking on Valera on the televised undercard.
