Most contract incentives you hear about NFL players revolve around accomplishing a feat to earn a certain number of dollars, but none might be bigger than Mark Ingram’s if he accomplishes the goal.
Mark Ingram could become a free agent if he’s named an All-Pro
Incentives aren’t rare in the NFL, but this one is particularly interesting.

The Saints’ running back has an incentive that would make him a free agent if the Associated Press names him a first-team All-Pro, according to the New Orleans Advocate. The Advocate also reports that had Ingram been named to a Pro Bowl last season along with this season, he could have fulfilled his contract a year early.
It’s also not impossible for the AP to give Ingram the All-Pro nod. He’s had a good season for the Saints, compiling 806 yards on 155 carries for an average of 5.2 yards per rush. Those 806 yards are fourth best in the NFL. He’s also got eight touchdowns, which is tied for the league lead with Todd Gurley.
Ever since the Saints traded Adrian Peterson, more carries have been available to Ingram, and the impact was seen immediately. Ingram had 25 carries — 11 more than he had in any game prior to the trade — and his first 100-yard rushing game of the year with 114.
He’s had three more of those games since, and all eight of his touchdowns have come after the trade. It’s also opened things up for Alvin Kamara, who has become a frontrunner for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. Together, the two have become one of the best 1-2 punches in the NFL.
Ingram has six more games to continue to build his case to be named an All-Pro. The way New Orleans has been rolling, you have to like his chances that he could sneak in there.
