The Seahawks and Washington finished up the wildest ending to a game we had in Week 9, with Jay Gruden’s team coming out with the 17-14 victory. It came after the two teams got off to a sloppy start.
Seahawks and Washington went from sloppiest game to wildest ending of Week 9
Washington got a much-needed win.

The score was 2-0 for most of the first half, before Rob Kelley punched in a touchdown with just under three minutes to go in the first half. The two teams combined for 23 penalties and 200 penalty yards, as well as eight sacks. There were also three turnovers between the two teams, and three missed field goals by Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh.
But then, things got interesting in the fourth quarter.
The Seahawks scored a touchdown with 1:40 left in the fourth quarter, giving Kirk Cousins and Washington the ball back with plenty of time, but they only took 35 seconds to score.
On the third play of the possession, Josh Doctson caught a Cousins pass where it appeared he rolled into the end zone for a touchdown. The play was ruled just short of the end zone, reviewed, and upheld.
The very next play, Washington running back Robert Kelley was able to punch it in, giving them a 17-14 lead after the extra point.
The Seahawks offense took the field with 59 seconds and no timeouts.
As the Seahawks were moving up the field, Wilson and Seattle opted to try to get another play off instead of spiking it, and it nearly cost them.
Rolling out, Wilson was grabbed on a shoestring tackle, where he went down with the ball in his hand. He was ruled down by contact, but the officials reviewed the play because it appeared he may have thrown it. It left four seconds on the clock for the Seahawks to run a single play.
Washington called a timeout, allowing the Seahawks to huddle up and call a play, but Wilson’s Hail Mary attempt fell incomplete, giving Washington the win. DeAngelo Hall made the final play on the ball, after just coming off of the PUP list for Washington.
It was a great ending to what was an otherwise messy game.
