With Kevin Durant absent from Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a minor injury, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr knew what was coming: a new starting lineup. That meant he’d reveal it during his mandatory pregame press conference, and that waiting beat reporters would all pause to tweet it.
Steve Kerr clipped his nails to give reporters some time to tweet news
Kerr knew this was coming.

What did that mean? Kerr would have time for some manicure.
“Everybody ready to tweet,” Kerr joked, and then asked everyone to “let me know when you’re done” as he began clipping his nails. It was a rehearsed bit, of course, but an amusing one. I’ve been in these pregame press conferences, and even ones where everyone was waiting for a starting lineup announcement (or something else, like an injury update). It really does work like this: one reporter asks, and then everyone tweets it.
Kerr’s fingernail gag is great, though. It must mean he’s a big SB Nation fan and saw our video today about long fingernails.
If you ever play basketball, take note: please, please, please clip your fingernails, because no one wants to sport a scar from you scratching them.
