Larry Fitzgerald eclipses 15,000 career receiving yards

Fitzgerald now has over 15,000 career yards receiving, and he should continue to climb the NFL’s all-time yards receiving list this season.

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald just eclipsed 15,000 career yards receiving after a 17-yard reception against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10. Fitzgerald came into this game 47 yards shy of reaching 15,000 yards. The 10-time Pro Bowler is currently No. 6 on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards list.

Why is this important?

Fitzgerald has been through some good and bad times in Arizona. He has continued to play at a high level despite dealing with quarterback carousels in the desert.

Fitzgerald reached this milestone Thursday night with quarterback Drew Stanton under center. Carson Palmer, the Cardinals’ starting quarterback, broke his arm against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7 and was placed on injured reserve.

The 34-year-old receiver has been a model of consistency since Arizona selected him with the No. 3 pick in the 2004 NFL draft. He has only missed six games in his illustrious career. In fact, Fitzgerald has plenty of accomplishments on his NFL résumé — including leading the league in receptions twice. He’s also No. 3 on the NFL’s all-time receptions list.

But Fitzgerald has a chance to climb up to No. 3 on the all-time receiving yards list this season. Former NFL receiver Randy Moss is third on the list with 15,292 yards, so Fitzgerald is definitely within striking distance of eclipsing that.

What does this mean for Fitzgerald?

Fitzgerald is already considered one of the greatest receivers of all time. Reaching 15,000 career receiving yards is just another milestone he can add to his long list of accomplishments.

Fitzgerald hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down, and he’s still one of the top receivers in the NFL. There’s no doubt that he’ll end up in Canton one day.
