There was some catch-rule messiness during Thursday Night Football between the Seahawks and Cardinals. Because you know, a Seahawks game isn’t complete without some weird rules mumbo jumbo.
Cardinals’ Andre Ellington questionable catch and fumble overturned after review vs. Seahawks
We may never know what a catch is!

Andre Ellington caught a pass from Drew Stanton late in the first half and appeared to fumble the ball.
Kam Chancellor recovered the ball at the Seattle 14-yard line and returned it to the 31.
However, upon review, officials decided that Ellington was going to the ground and never had control of the football. The Cardinals then went for it on fourth down, and Stanton threw an incomplete pass to J.J. Nelson.
Based on the view above, it certainly appears that Ellington had secured the football and took at least three steps untouched before the football popped out. But referees decided against it.
The Cardinals’ drive ended, and the Seahawks would finish out the half with a field goal to make it 15-7. So the play ended up not making a big difference, but it served as a reminder that sometimes we really just don’t know what a catch is.
What do you think?
