Texans head coach Bill O’Brien announced Monday morning that T.J. Yates would likely be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
T.J. Yates expected to start for Texans in Week 15 vs. Jaguars
Yates will be getting his first start since 2015.

Tom Savage suffered a concussion in Week 14 against the 49ers and likely won’t be ready to go in time for their game against the Jags.
Why is this happening? Because of Savage’s concussion. Savage took a big hit from 49ers defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil, and displayed the “fencing response” which is most commonly associated with head trauma. Savage had re-entered the game but would later be taken out.
CBS reported the NFL’s chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, will be talking to the team and looking into the incident.
This was the scary hit that sidelined Savage:
The Texans said Savage passed the concussion protocol but later did not on a second test.
What does this mean for the Texans? It’s a continued struggle at the quarterback position for the Texans. All hope for the season was lost once rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson tore his ACL in practice. Yates hasn’t started a game since 2015, but he won both of his starts that season.
However, the 2017 Texans don’t boast a defense quite as good as that one. With the team already out of the playoff race, the Texans can pretty much look forward at this point and hope that Watson makes a full recovery and is ready for a playoff push in 2018.
