Michael Floyd thanks Vikings and Patriots for second chance after DUI in Instagram post

Floyd reflected on his mistake and was thankful for the opportunity to play football again.

Michael Floyd was arrested a year ago today for a DUI in Scottsdale, Ariz., and served 24 days in jail along with a sentence of 96 days of house arrest.

In reflection of his mistake, he posted a photo of himself on Instagram with a message thanking the Patriots and Vikings for giving him a second chance.

Floyd’s caption read:

On ‪December 12, 2016 I was arrested for the biggest mistake of my life. I lost my dream job and thought I ruined my career. Two days later I was blessed with a second chance from the New England Patriots. I gave the Patriots everything I had and was again blessed to be part of their Super Bowl team. From the highs of the Super Bowl, I traveled back to Arizona to serve out my jail sentence. After some really difficult times I was blessed again and the team I grew up rooting for decided to take a chance on me. I couldn’t be more thankful to the Vikings and look forward to taking all of my experiences to help this team continue to be successful. Looking back on the past year I have experienced both the highest highs and the lowest lows. I would like to thank the Patriots and the Vikings for taking chances on me and for everyone else who has helped me over this past year. A year after making the biggest mistake of my life, I can honestly say, I’m a better person from it all and hope to continue to do and be better. #dontlosefaith #keeppushin

Floyd had a minor hiccup along the way. Ninety-one days into his 96-day house arrest sentence, he failed a test that shows he consumed alcohol. He blamed the results on kombucha, a fermented tea, but the court didn’t buy it. In June, he was sentenced to just a day in jail, and to serve the final five days of his house arrest.

The following month, the NFL suspended Floyd for the first four games of the season for his “extreme DUI” arrest.

Floyd has appeared in seven games with the Vikings this season, and has nine receptions for 78 yards. He and his hometown Vikings have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season, giving Floyd a real chance at a second Super Bowl.
