Rob Gronkowski got 0 targets to stay at 69 receptions for the season

Rob Gronkowski — one of the greatest tight ends to ever step on a football field — was not targeted today by one of the best quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady.

Perhaps it’s because he didn’t want his stats to budge, particularly his receptions:

Gronk loves the number 69. He loves it so much, he missed a free throw in high school to keep the score at 69. So to not get any targets in the final game of the regular season doesn’t seem so unintentional.

His mom seems to be a fan as well, according to Gronk at his press conference after his 69th career touchdown:

Congrats on the 69 receptions for the 2017 season, Gronk.
