The FA Cup third-round draw is in, and it’s highlighted by a Merseyside derby. Everton and Liverpool will be under pressure to field strong sides when they face off this January.
Merseyside derby headlines FA Cup 3rd-round draw
There’s one big standout tie from this round. Plus, four non-league sides are still alive.

There are no instances of tiny clubs getting huge away paydays, but AFC Wimbledon will see a nice boost to its bottom line by splitting the gate when they play away to Tottenham Hotspur.
This is the stage at which all Premier League and Championship teams join the tournament, plus the teams that won previous qualifying rounds. Thus far, fourth-division teams are the farthest down the English pyramid to secure their places, but some smaller clubs can still make it if they win their second-round replays. Fifth-tier teams AFC Fylde and Woking, as well as seventh-tier teams Hereford and Slough Town, are still alive.
All third-round ties will take place on the weekend of Jan. 6. In the event of a draw, replays will happen as scheduling allows for the teams involved.
