Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux: Start time, TV schedule for fight at Madison Square Garden

Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux is one of the best fights on paper and headlines an excellent night of fights on Saturday.

Two of the best technical boxers of all time will face off on Saturday when Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux meet at Madison Square Garden. With four Olympic gold medals between them, this is one of the sport’s greatest matchups ever on paper.

Saturday’s card will be a free broadcast to all of those with ESPN in the United States, and it will be live streamed on WatchESPN. The card will begin at 9 p.m. ET and also features some very exciting undercard matchups. The televised card will feature four bouts, while another three will be streamed on WatchESPN and the ESPN App beginning at 7:30 p.m.

But the main event is the battle between Lomachenko, 29, and Rigondeaux, 37.

Lomachenko won the 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medal for Ukraine in the featherweight division, and then won the gold medal for Ukraine in the lightweight division at the 2012 London Olympics. Rigondeux scooped up gold medals for Cuba at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2004 Athens Olympics.

Both boxers also have a slew of world and European championships between them. Lomachenko is 9-1 as a professional and is coming off three straight corner retirement wins, the last being against Miguel Marriaga on Aug. 5. Rigondeaux is 17-0 as a professional, with a win over Jazza Dickens his last official win, in July 2016.

Undefeated top-10 contender Christopher Diaz will be in action on the undercard. He is set to take on Casey Ramos and is the heavy favorite in the NABO junior lightweight title match.

A pair of former Olympians, Shakur Stevenson and Michael Conlan, will both be in action on the televised undercard as well. Conlan, an Olympic bronze medalist, will take on Luis Fernando Molina in a six-round featherweight contest. Stevenson will kick off the broadcast as he searches for his fourth win in as many matches. He’ll be taking on Oscar Mendoza.
