The New York Knicks continue to push the Minnesota Timberwolves on a deal involving point guard Ricky Rubio, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
Ricky Rubio trade rumors involving the Knicks continue to gain steam
A rumored Rubio-for-Derrick Rose swap is still on the table, though it’s unclear if it’ll get done by the deadline.

Derrick Rose — and his $21 million expiring contract — is the likely piece that’d head back to Minnesota, but the Knicks are pushing the Timberwolves to include an additional piece in the deal, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein. That could be Wolves reserve forward Nemanja Bjelica, according to the New York Post’s Marc Berman. It could also be an additional draft pick, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley.
Rubio has rebounded after an awful start to the season, but it’s become clear that Tom Thibodeau does not see him as the team’s point guard of the future. Minnesota has been actively shopping Rubio in return for a “bridge” point guard that can hold the fort down until 2016 first-round pick Kris Dunn is ready, according to Wojnarowski.
Rose, who has a long history with Thibodeau in Chicago, might qualify as that player, though his game has slipped and he created an embarrassing situation by missing a game without notifying the Knicks earlier this year. The Knicks seem ready to move on and Rubio, who is under contract for two more seasons after this year, can be the team’s point guard in the short term.
