Super Bowl commercials 2017: Humpty Dumpty falls off the wall again for TurboTax
Maybe hold off on eating on Sunday until halftime
Perhaps the most memorable gross-out moment from Sunday’s Super Bowl commercials will come courtesy of Turbo Tax, which will retell the story of Humpty Dumpty to promote its income tax app.
We first saw a glimpse of this commercial during the AFC Championship Game, and the final version of the ad is expected to run during the first half of the Super Bowl on Sunday, per Ad Age.
We find all the king’s men reporting to the scene of an accident with Humpty Dumpty cracked and broken, having fallen off the wall as he was known to do. The cleanup effort is stomach-turning enough, with egg white getting scooped into a bucket. But then comes the moment this commercial will be remembered for, after Humpty Dumpty is pieced back together by duct tape. Now sitting, our hero spits up a little bit, throwing up egg yolk.
The premise of the commercial is that Turbo Tax’s app is so easy to use, you can do it from anywhere. Even while sitting on a wall.
It’s a funny play on a classic nursery rhyme, but by not withholding the shot of an egg vomiting up yolk, I’ll never look at an omelette the same way again.
