Le’Veon Bell underwent surgery on Monday to repair a groin injury, according to ESPN. Bell revealed that he was undergoing surgery via Snapchat story. But don’t worry, Steelers fans, the recovery timeline for Bell is just about six weeks, according to Around the NFL’s Kevin Patra.

Bell missed most of the AFC Championship game, which the Steelers lost to the New England Patriots, with a groin injury. Bell said during the week leading up to the Super Bowl that he had been dealing with the injury throughout the playoffs, but he was never listed on the Steelers injury report. The NFL is investigating why Pittsburgh did not list Bell on the injury report during the postseason.

The Steelers placed the franchise tag on Bell this offseason, and he is set to earn over $12 million this season unless the team works out a long-term deal with the productive running back.

Bell missed the first three games of the 2016 season while serving a suspension for missing a drug test, but he was a force when he returned to the field. Bell finished last season with 1,268 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, as well as 618 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

The timeline for Bell’s recovery shouldn’t impact his participation in offseason workouts. The Steelers should also have plenty of time to assess his health before the July 15 deadline to hammer out a long-term deal with Bell.
