The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their backfield during free agency when they signed running back Eddie Lacy earlier this week.
Eddie Lacy says he will do his ‘best impression’ of Marshawn Lynch with the Seahawks
The Seattle faithful will be happy to hear this.

Lacy, who has always received attention for his large frame, measured in at 267 pounds. So when he signed with the Seahawks, he was given the nickname “FeastMode” a play off of Marshawn Lynch’s “BeastMode.”
The Seahawks will be glad to hear that Lacy wants to bring a Lynch-esque running game to the offense. “I’ve always favored Marshawn Lynch’s running style, and that’s something Pete Carroll definitely likes,” Lacy said. “I’m going to come in and do my best impression of him and just bring my hard work and my hard running style to the table.”
If Lacy were able to replicate either of the famous “Beastquake” runs Lynch had with the Seahawks, they’ll be pleased.
Pete Carroll said something quite similar earlier in the week about what Lacy could bring to the offense. “I like that we’re bringing in a big, tough guy who’s going to send a message with the way he plays the game,” Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle.
“We went all those years with Marshawn [Lynch], and everybody knew what we stood for and the style of play, so I’m hoping to just continue to add with Eddie and the way Thomas [Rawls] brings it,” Carroll said. “That’s a great one-two punch sending a message about playing tough and physical.”
Carroll should be expecting hard, tough runs from Lacy, who sounds like a guy who will be playing with a chip on his shoulder in 2017. He said he wants to, “just want to come out and showcase what I can do, prove that I’m not a fluke, that I can do what I do and do it really well.”
After his first two NFL seasons in which he eclipsed the 1,100 yard mark, Lacy’s weight became more of a talking point, especially when he was dealing with injuries. “I’m very motivated to prove myself,” he said. “I know what I’m able to do, but I just want to go out and show everybody that I can do it and will do it. I just can’t wait to get my chance.”
Lacy will likely have help in the backfield, with the Seahawks having Thomas Rawls, C.J. Prosise, and Alex Collins also on the roster. They’ve also recently been linked to former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who is slated to visit the team on Thursday. No matter how big or small his role, Lacy is ready to work.
“Whatever the coach needs me to do,” he said. “However he wants to use me, however he wants to play me, my job is to take my opportunities and make the most of them, and that’s what I plan to do.”
The optimism in Seattle is much needed after a tough year in the backfield for Pete Carroll’s team. At the very least, Lacy is going to do his part to revitalize a once fearsome backfield.
