Derek Carr looked like a viable candidate for NFL MVP before he went down with a fractured fibula late in the season. In addition to being a good quarterback, Carr also seems to be a sincerely nice person.
Derek Carr helped a stranded motorist who had no idea who the quarterback was
Carr is a good quarterback on the field and a good Samaritan off of it.

A DJ and music producer named Ron Reeser found himself stranded on the side of the road in a Bay Area suburb after his car ran out of gas. A Good Samaritan stopped by and offered to drive Reeser to the gas station. It was, unbeknownst to Reeser, Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
The best part is that Reeser had no idea who Carr was at first.
“He said he was a quarterback; I thought he was a college quarterback,” Reeser said, via All 22. “I asked him what string he was. He said ‘first string.’ I asked him his favorite team. He said, ‘I may be biased, but the Raiders because I play for them.’ I looked at him and said, ‘Wait’ … and I asked him his name. He said ‘Derek Carr.’”
Carr became a household name last season after leading the Raiders to a 12-3 record prior to injury. Now he’s just spending his offseason restoring people’s faith in humanity.
“It really made me feel good that there are good people still out there doing nice things for people,” Reeser said.
Carr and Reeser exchanged numbers and plan to keep in touch, and they’re already friends on Twitter, apparently.
Reeser is a San Francisco 49ers fan, but after his encounter with Carr, he’s considering switching his loyalty to the Raiders.
