WHOA.
Yes, that is the visual representation of the NHL trade deadline. Were all of those lines interesting? Not really, but the volume! GMs are already talking about how quiet the deadline was compared to recent years, but that doesn’t mean a lot of intriguing moves weren’t made.
GMs got creative this year. Let’s discuss.
TIME FOR GRADES
A lot of teams got high marks! There were more reasonable trades than we expected, so there were plenty of high grades to go around.
Oh, and we graded every single trade made since January. You can probably spot the parts where we got bored/tired/hungry.
SO WHO MOVED? NOT THESE GUYS.
As for the guys who did ...
- The Lightning basically laundered Mark Streit for the Penguins. Poor Flyers.
- Calgary traded for Curtis Lazar, a 2013 first-round pick of the Senators. He needed a fresh start and could be really good.
- Colorado traded Jarome Iginla to the Kings.
- Montreal gets Steve Ott and a ton of other large humans.
- Jannik Hansen is now a Shark.
