Jay Grimes is an 18-year-old cornerback and return specialist who is visiting Indianapolis for a football convention. He heard about the NFL Combine Experience for fans and decided to come out and test his abilities in the 40-yard dash and other Combine drills ... decked out in his spandex.
A fan showed up in spandex to run the 40 at the NFL Combine
He was pretty fast, too!

I spent some time watching fans attempt the 40 on Thursday morning, and the first time I saw Grimes run, his 4.88 time was far and away the best time any fan had posted. Grimes’ time improved, too, as the day went on.
Grimes’ best time of the day was a 4.72, but it took a while to get there. Grimes estimated that he had attempted the 40-yard dash 10 to 20 times on Wednesday.
“My first time I ran a 4.9, and that’s not good enough,” Grimes said. “So I ran a 4.8, and then I took a little break. Came back out here, ran the 4.72.”
The 40-yard dash has become the marquee event at the Combine, and NFL draft hopefuls train for months to run their best time in front of teams’ talent evaluators. Grimes didn’t have the benefit of that type of training.
“I’ve been training a little bit since January, but not like how they’ve been training,” Grimes said. “But I’m sure if I train as well as they did, I could get 4.5.”
Grimes isn’t going to win the island from Adidas, but he showed up to run the 40 at the NFL Combine Experience in spandex. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
