The Minnesota Vikings announced on Wednesday that running back Latavius Murray had successful ankle surgery.
Latavius Murray undergoes surgery on ankle 6 days after signing with Vikings
The Vikings knew Murray would need the surgery prior to signing him.

According to the team’s release, the surgery was performed by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team also said that they knew that his ankle would require surgery prior to signing him earlier in March. He is expected to be ready for training camp.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had more details on the type of injury:
Murray spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Oakland Raiders, after drafting him in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He missed his entire rookie year with an ankle injury. In 2016, Murray was bothered by the ankle in the second half of the season. He played in 14 of 16 games in 2016, starting in 12 of them.
Despite battling the injury, Murray finished with 788 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s tasked with replacing Adrian Peterson as the lead back in Minnesota, so he’ll need to be in full health if he hopes to live up to expectations.
At least he won’t be wearing Peterson’s No. 28.
