Penn State and Notre Dame face their toughest tests.

Minnesota-Duluth and Harvard booked their tickets to NCAA Hockey’s most hallowed event on Saturday. On Sunday, four teams will vie for the two remaining spots in the Frozen Four.
The action will begin with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell taking on Notre Dame. As a No. 2 seed, UMass-Lowell expected to be here. Its dominant 5-0 win over Cornell in the first round showed that the team was ready for it.
Notre Dame is a surprise. The No. 4 seed pulled off the tournament’s biggest upset to date by ousting No. 1 Minnesota in the first round. The Fighting Irish are one of the youngest teams in the tournament, so it will be interesting to see how they fare as the spotlight gets even brighter.
The same applies to No. 3 Penn State, which takes on No. 1 Denver later in the evening. Penn State is the narrative darling of the NCAA tournament, rising from obscurity to strong hockey program almost overnight. And the Nittany Lions caught everyone’s attention by routing Union, 10-3, in the first round.
Denver is a tougher task, however.
