Defending champions Lemi Berhanu Hayle and Atsede Baysa will headline the field of elite runners for the 2017 Boston Marathon. The 121st iteration of the race is set to be held on Monday. The 26.2-mile course will start in Hopkinton, Mass., and will run through downtown Boston.

The Boston Marathon is here, and this is how you can watch the race online.


Coverage of the race begins at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. They will carry coverage through to the end of the marathon for elite men and women, a group that includes Hayle and Baysa. A live stream of the race will be available at NBC Sports Live and via the Boston Athletic Association’s website.
Galen Rupp, America’s bronze medalist, will be running Boston for the first time. He’s got a chance to become the first American-born champion in the race since Greg Meyer did it in 1983. He’ll have some other Olympians to compete with, including Jared Ward and Meb Keflezighi, and of course, there is Hayle.
On the women’s side, Olympian Desi Linden will be in action against Baysa and some other big names, like two-time world champion Edna Kiplagat and course record holder Buzunesh Deba.
Elite women will start at 9:32, while elite men will begin at 10 a.m. on the dot. From there, waves one through four of other runners will take off through 11:15 a.m. Elite men can be expected to finish in the two hours, 15 minute range, while elite women aren’t far behind with times in the two hours, 30 minute range.
The actual start of the marathon is 8:50 a.m., when mobility impaired competitors will lead off the marathon.
