Raiders, Seahawks agree to terms on Marshawn Lynch trade

The wait is finally over, as the Seahawks and Raiders have a deal to send Marshawn Lynch to Oakland after plenty of rumors. The Raiders confirmed it Wednesday afternoon.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Lynch is expected to be traded to the Raiders on Wednesday, as a contract with the team and trade terms are now in place. The deal involves a swap of late-round draft selections in the 2018 NFL draft.

Lynch will commemorate his new opportunity with the Raiders with an autograph signing and block party in Oakland on Thursday, according to Clarence Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Lynch passed his physical with the Raiders Wednesday afternoon, right after he returned from Haiti where he has been helping build schools and houses with Seahawks defensive linemen Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett.

Reports surfaced Friday that indicated Lynch would have a deal complete soon, so this comes as no surprise that the return of Marshawn Lynch has finally been complete. He’ll be replacing Latavius Murray, who departed for Minnesota in free agency this offseason.

Lynch retired after his 2015 season was plagued with injuries, which included a sports hernia, as well as hamstring issues. He posted a picture of a pair of cleats hanging on a wire during Super Bowl 50.

In early April, he visited the Raiders and reportedly told them that he planned to unretire.

Beast Mode will now likely finish his career in Oakland where he was born and raised. He played his college football at Cal, and with the Raiders moving to Las Vegas in the near future, it’s the perfect way to send the Raiders off.

The Raiders are built to win now, as well as in the future. Derek Carr had a breakout season, with Khalil Mack leading the defense for the 12-4 Raiders. Adding a bruising back like Lynch — assuming he plays like we’re used to seeing — can only help the Raiders.
