The Cleveland Browns keep it moving on this first night of the NFL draft, trading with the Packers to move back into the first round. With the selection they took David Njoku, a tight end out of Miami.

In the trade, the Browns give the Packers their No. 33 and No. 108 picks for the 29th pick in the draft.

Njoku played wide receiver in high school, and was also a national high jump champion. When he arrived at Miami, he switched over to tight end. He had a limited role, but was a big piece of the Hurricanes’ red zone offense.

He had a good NFL Combine, running a 4.64 40-yard dash, recorded a 37.5-inch vertical leap, and a 11’1 broad jump. Mix that with a 6’4 frame, and you have a versatile weapon at tight end.

Earlier in the evening, the Browns took Myles Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick, as well as Jabrill Peppers with the No. 25 selection overall.

We will have more information as it becomes available.

David Njoku Scouting Report

David Njoku came to Miami with people wondering where he would fit in the offense. After three seasons, he leaves with the expectation that he’ll continue in the footsteps of the Hurricane tight end greats before him. He won’t leave with a stat line that analytical fans will trumpet; regardless, there is a strong belief that he will have a better NFL career than what he put together in college. He is blessed with the athleticism to run and elude defenders with the ball in his hands or to use his strength to run over a defender on the next play.” — Read More at State of the U
