Myles Garrett can’t wait to sack Ben Roethlisberger

It didn’t take long for the Browns’ first overall pick to lock in on a dreaded division rival.

Myles Garrett was drafted first overall by the Browns to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks. Cleveland plays the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, and Myles Garrett said he’s coming after Ben Roethlisberger.

“I’ve been watching him for a very long time, just growing up,” Garrett said. “I finally get to face him, and scheme against him and his left tackle and the whole offensive line, and know what I’m up against.”

Roethlisberger and Garrett could have been teammates in Cleveland. Roethlisberger thought he was going to be drafted by the Browns back in 2004. The Ohio native visited Cleveland for a private workout, and he expected his name to be called at No. 6 right up until Kellen Winslow was announced as the Browns’ pick.

Instead, Roethlisberger landed with an AFC North rival and has surely made the Browns regret the decision to pass on him ever since. Roethlisberger’s 20-2 career record against Cleveland gives him the best win percentage of any quarterback against a single opponent since the merger.

The Browns drafted Garrett to disrupt opposing passers, and that’s what it’s going to take to change Roethlisberger’s luck against Cleveland. Browns fans should be pleased that Garrett already has Roethlisberger in his sights.
