The No. 1 overall Denver Pioneers take on No. 13 Notre Dame at 9:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2 from the United Center in Chicago. Notre Dame reached the Frozen Four with two massive upsets; the Fighting Irish stunned No. 4 Minnesota in the first round before taking down No. 5 UMass-Lowell in overtime in the regional final. Taking down Denver, the best team in NCAA hockey this year, is their toughest task yet.
The first game of the night, though, belongs to No. 3 Harvard and No. 2 Minnesota-Duluth. And it should be a good one. Minnesota-Duluth had the more thrilling road to the Frozen Four, needing three combined overtime periods to eliminate Boston University and Ohio State in the first two rounds.
Harvard, right up there with Denver as NCAA’s best this year, skated through Providence and Air Force neatly.
