The superstar back can do it all — he’s one of the league’s best as a ball-carrier and as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. The one thing he can’t do? Throw a baseball.
After watching Johnson’s attempt at a first pitch at the Diamondbacks game last night, Bruce Arians will need to think twice before dialing up any Wildcat passing plays with Johnson as the passer. Either that, or Johnson will have to put in some extra work with Carson Palmer and the quarterbacks this offseason.
Regardless, the running back’s first pitch is a friendly reminder that sports are hard and that even some of the world’s best athletes struggle when it comes to picking up new sports.
At least Johnson can hang his hat on the fact that his first pitch didn’t come close to Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent’s laughably terrible attempts. It still wasn’t a great pitch, but it wasn’t that bad.
Maybe the Diamondbacks will give Johnson a second chance at redeeming himself later this season.
